Bell Flavors & Fragrances has undergone a series of extensive audits in 2017, making it a busy and productive year for Bell Middletown, located in New York. Bell Middletown has been receiving more requests from several major fragrance customers to join a new initiative named AuditOne. The following excerpt is according to AuditOne’s website:
AuditOne simplifies, standardizes, and streamlines the process by which major consumer products companies conduct quality audits globally.
In cooperation with Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Unilever, L’Oreal, Estee Lauder and Kimberly-Clark, AuditOne plans to open this revolutionary process to all customers and suppliers creating a broad and far reaching integrated quality process for the FMCG/CPG Non-Foods Industry.
AuditOne works as a streamlining procedure so consumer products companies are able to conduct one uniformed audit, which will help consolidate the process. Previous to this type of auditing process, companies would be required to conduct individual (and multiple) audit programs to meet the standards of each customer.
In November, an audit was completed for Bell Middletown and the facility received the certification for EFfCI. The EFfCI certification was acquired to satisfy the major customers who participate in the AuditOne program. EFfCI GMP specifies Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines specifically constructed to cosmetic ingredients, also considering significant facets of guidelines being used to certify quality and safety within the production of cosmetic and pharmaceutical ingredients.
Tim Cunningham, Bell Middletown’s Vice President of Manufacturing, comments on the use of AuditOne with Bell. “AuditOne is new for Bell Flavors and Fragrances. The concept behind this program makes a lot of sense for any manufacturing operation because of the time and cost savings for multiple audits, as opposed to one audit per year which is a primary selling point of the AuditOne approach.”
“Navigating through the process in the beginning was fairly time consuming, primarily because this type of audit process is new to Bell, but the final results were amazing. It resulted in a much better and more complete quality system, which passed the test and resulted in the facility receiving the required certifications. The audit is set up on a 3-year cycle, and only the first year is considered a full audit with the second and third being shorter which helps save time and resources for the facility. Going forward, the AuditOne system will become even more valuable to Bell as more customers join the process.”
